Dual Dial Resin & Wood Clock
The Project
This 60cm statement piece was commissioned as a milestone 50th birthday gift. The brief was unique: the recipient is famously "fashionably late" to every occasion. To lean into the joke, the clock features a dual-dial design. The secondary dial, affectionately known as "Chapman Time," can be set an hour behind the main hands, giving the owner a classy (if cheeky) excuse for their timing.
Materials & Process
Handcrafted in my Canberra workshop, the clock face is made from highly figured Australian Cypress Pine. I selected this specific timber for its intricate grain patterns and warm, natural tones, which contrast perfectly against the deep black epoxy resin. Our tables and boards feature premium deep-pour epoxy coloured with rich, matte black to create striking contrast and depth. The black-tinted deep-pour epoxy gives this piece a dramatic, timeless edge that complements both rustic and contemporary interiors.
The clock is finished with a durable hard wax coating to ensure it remains a heirloom-quality feature for decades. A custom personal message has also been inlaid into the back of the timber, making it a truly one-of-a-kind gift.
